Hydromatic Brake

Overview

In the oil drilling and service equipement, the hydromatic brake is mainly used as auxiliary brake of the drilling drawwoks, which can reduce the speed of the drawworks, that is, the speed of the main drum or the speed of the hook block, to keep the drilling tool evenly devolved at a safe speed.

The power of the hydromatic brake come from the drilling drawworks through chain-sprocket transmission. 

When the drilling drawworks lowered the drill string into the well, the rotor of the hydromatic brake can agitate the water which stored in the body, then wil create a moment of resistance, which drives the drilling drawworks to slow down.

Features

* The hydromatic brake is one kind of hydraulic transmission damping device. It can absorb the power by converting the kinetic energy of the mechanism into the internal friction heat of the working fluid through the rotation of the rotor, the working fluid is usually water (it should be replaced with antifreeze in winter), and then the heat energy converted from the absorbed mechanical energy during the braking process should be remove and spread away through the circulation of the working fluid.

* The hydromatic brake mainly consists of the stator, rotor, body, shaft, sprocket, etc.
